Infection Control Policies

 Policy and Procedure,

1. Purpose

To prevent the spread of infectious diseases among trainees, staff, and visitors, and to ensure a safe and hygienic training environment.

2. Scope

Applies to all personnel, trainees, contractors, and visitors within the training center premises, including classrooms, laboratories, offices, and common areas.

3. General Hygiene Practices

  • All staff and trainees must wash hands regularly with soap and water or use      alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
  • Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing; dispose of tissues safely.
  • Maintain clean and sanitized workspaces, training equipment, and communal areas.
  • Provide adequate waste disposal bins, including separate bins for potentially contaminated materials.

4. Management of Illness

  • Trainees or staff who are unwell or exhibit symptoms of contagious illness (fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea) should refrain from attending training sessions.
  • Report illness to the center management immediately.
  • Anyone who becomes ill during training should be isolated safely until they can leave the premises.

5. Cleaning and Disinfection Protocols

  • Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and high-touch areas (e.g., door, knobs, tables, computers).
  • Use approved disinfectants and follow manufacturer instructions.
  • Keep a cleaning log to track routine sanitation.

6. Handling Blood or Body Fluids

  • Staff must wear disposable gloves and other PPE when dealing with blood or body fluids.
  • Clean affected areas immediately using approved disinfectants.
  • Dispose of contaminated materials safely in biohazard or sealed waste bags.

7. Vaccination and Preventive Measures

  • Staff and trainees are encouraged to maintain up-to-date vaccinations as recommended by local health authorities.
  • Consider seasonal flu vaccinations and other relevant immunizations for high-risk activities.

8. Awareness and Training

  • Staff must receive training on infection control practices and emergency hygiene measures.
  • Trainees should be briefed on hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and reporting illness.
  • Display signage promoting hygiene and infection prevention in prominent areas.

9. Review and Monitoring

  • Infection control procedures should be reviewed regularly or after any      outbreak.
  • Management must ensure compliance with local public health regulations.
  • Any incidents of contagious disease exposure should be investigated, and preventive measures updated.
